A good keylogger remover will actively protect you from not only keyloggers but also spyware, adware, trojans and other online threats.

There are two types of programs that can be classified as a keylogger remover, they are an anti-spyware program and an anti-virus program.  Why both?  Some anti-virus programs do detect keyloggers and some do not.  Most reputable anti-spyware programs detect, delete and protect against keyloggers in addition to many other malicious internet threats.

By having an anti-spyware and anti-virus program installed you are better protected against many different threats.

Anti-spyware programs protect you from a growing list of known spyware bugs including most keyloggers.  Spyware programs can gather information about you, your shopping habits, your surfing habits, your passwords, your personal information, etc., and then send the data collected to some company or internet scammer.  Your personal identity could be at risk.

An anti-virus program protects you from known computer viruses and some keyloggers. Computer viruses are programs that infect other programs, and then spread (that's why they are called viruses).  Some viruses also include instructions to damage an infected computer, or delete sections of the hard drive, etc.

With the spyware threat changing on a daily basis it is very important to have an anti-spyware program installed on your computer to protect you from keyloggers, spyware, adware, trojans, etc. A good anti-spyware program should be from a reputable company, able to fix existing spyware problems, offer real-time protection, have a large database of spy signatures, provide easy updates, and provide customer support.

In order to keep yourself and your computer protected from the latest internet threats it is very important that you regularly update your anti-spyware, anti-virus, internet browser and firewall as new updates are released.  The best way to do this is to select the auto update feature if available or if your program does not offer this feature see if you can get on a notification list instead.
